3 years

My Nan passed away 3 years at the end of February 2017. It hit me harder than I expected, as for the past six months it has felt like she's not here anymore; she is elsewhere.

When I saw the Pixels & Paper Challenge for March 2017 I thought - wow.. could it be more perfect? Everything in the challenge picture reminded me of Nan - the tea cup - it was Nan who introduced me to tea - the only beverage I would ever end up drinking, the flowers in the cup - the colours reminded me of her purple and purple/pink Poor Man's Orchid and Livingstone Daisy, and the tiny white daisies on her Erigeron daisy, the yellow reminded me of the lemon and citrus trees in her back garden. Of course, this is the garden I remember growing up, that Nan only left after Pa died in 1999. She then did several stints in various retirement homes until she reached the ripe age of 98.

I shaped my page based on the tea cup in the photo - and used the chain to 'hang' my photos of Nan on. I recreated the flowers in the cup as best I could from my digi stash.

3 Years 2017 - Pixels & Paper Challenge March 2017
inside the journal spot says : "Dear Nan, I still have such strong memories of you. Good times and bad. Some days it feels like you're been gone for years and years, whilst others it just doesn't feel like 3 years. I feel you about when I need you, but mostly now I feel you are gone with friends and family (those you could stand of course) but still looking down on me from time to time. March 2017"

On the page says : "you introduced me to tea - under 6 yrs" and "you got older year by year but I didn't notice. You were always my Nan, and I love you still." and "these colours remind me of the flowers in your garden; Poor Man's Orchid, LIvingstone Daisy, and Erigeron Daisy you clipped into a hedge around the citrus trees."

  7. HI diane. I took that shape from the shape of the top of the tea cup. Never would have thought of it otherwise! :)
