Sparkle Card 2014 digi

I've only ever done a sketch for a card once before, but when I came across the Feeling Sketchy Sketch #80 comp I thought I'd give it a try. I was a bit nervous, and it took about five re-takes to get to this one, which I really like. I'm still in remember Shirley mode, and one of things I recall from an interview with another child star, was that Shirley's mother always said to Shirley "Sparkle Shirley" and Shirley would light up in front of the camera. This photo has that 'sparkle'. So I used that as the basis for my card.

I used the colours that were in the photo across the card to help tie it all in a bit - quite difficult colours to get the balance right - but I was happy with this.

Goodbye Shirley 2014 digi layout

I was saddened to hear that Shirley Temple passed away. I suppose some people you think will live forever, and age 85 doesn't sound that old by today's standards. She is one of my favourite actresses, and I've seen a good many of her films (on video or DVD), and have favourites like Stowaway, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Captain January, The Littlest Rebel, and Bright Eyes.

But I suppose I also admire her because she was able to get past her acting career (in some way) and live a full life; even getting past an early marriage which didn't last very long.

So, I felt I needed to do a scrapbooking page on her to thank her, because although she's 'gone' she will stay with me forever and many more people across the world. I used the Orange Paperie Feb 2014 (add hearts and journaling) challenge and the Color Me Scrappy #56.

it's a wonderful life 2014 digi layout

The ARTastic challenge for Feb 2014 was so inspiring ! I loved the artwork and the two shots of red in the painting. However, I just couldn't make the red work with the cat pic I wanted to use, so I changed the red to yellow, and then my ARTastic design team page was done. This layout also doubled as my Design Team CSI #110.

I love taking cat photos that show the character of the cat and are not blown away by an over-exposing flash! I love this pic because all the beautiful soft fur is visible! I was looking for an arty page to match the complexities of the ARTastic challenge.
